Di recente, diverse famiglie mi hanno chiesto consigli in merito all’ acquisto di un piccolo focolare domestico, in particolare sulle stufe, dato che la loro installazione si presta anche agli ambienti finiti e arredati, al contrario del camino, per cui invece è necessaria qualche opera in muratura…
Non voglio addentrarmi con voi nelle specifiche tecniche, ma vi dirò brevemente perchè la mia ricerca si è svolta solo sulle stufe a legna e non a pellets.
Quest’ ultimo combustibile è un prodotto di scarto dalle provenienze non sempre chiare e oggetto di una serie di processi industriali che impiegano molto acqua, inoltre la stufa che li utilizza ha spesso bisogno di energia elettrica, mentre la legna è un combustibile semplice ed ecologico, non ha bisogno di lavorazione, si rigenera facilmente e la sua combustione richiede solo aria. Aggiungo che in molte zone d’Italia, a venderla sono le stesse ditte che si occupano della pulizia e potatura dei boschi, quindi si tratta spesso di materiale a km0, che altrimenti finirebbe in discarica.
Ora passiamo alle scelte di materiali e stile…
Il nord Italia ha una grandissima tradizione di stufe in maiolica e lei è la mia preferita…il suo disegno, con più o meno varianti, ha più di tre secoli, ma è sempre così affascinante…
La maiolica è un materiale refrattario che scalda l’ambiente circostante per irradiazione, quindi, una volta scaldato l’involucro, esso emana calore fino al suo raffreddamento. Negli ambienti scaldati in questo modo la sensazione è piacevolissima, infatti non ci sono correnti o zone privilegiate, ma il calore è così uniforme da essere veramente avvolgente.
Ecco una rivisitazione di questo materiale dal design attuale ed accattivante:
La castellamonte stufe.
Stesso funzionamento e risultato per le attualissime stufe in pietra ollare, con la sola differenza che la pietra ollare è un materiale che si ricava in natura e spesso proviene dal Nord Europa, area di provenienza di questo sistema di riscaldamento.
Contura stufe.
Apprezzabili per colore e per forma: potrebbero essere collocate in un soggiorno così come in un ufficio o in uno showroom….
Poi c’è la soluzione più economica, ma anche quella più versatile, dalla diffusione del calore più diretta: le stufe in ghisa. Come tutti i metalli si presta particolarmente alle forme e da qui nascono oggetti dal design eccellente:

Now we turn to the choice of materials and style …
The north of Italy has a great tradition of majolica stoves and she is my favorite … its design, with more or less variations, has more than three centuries, but it is always so fascinating …
Majolica is a refractory material which warms the surrounding environment by radiation, therefore, once heated by the housing, it gives off heat to the cooling.
In rooms heated in this way, the feeling is pleasant, in fact there are no currents or privileged areas, but the heat is so uniform as to be truly enveloping.
Here is a revisiting of this material from the contemporary design and captivating:
La castellamonte stufe.
Same result for modern soapstone stoves, with the only difference that soapstone is a material which is derived in nature and often comes from Northern Europe, the area of origin of this heating system.
Contura stufe.
Appreciable color and shape: could be placed in a living room as well as in an office or a showroom ….
Then there is the most economical solution, but also the most flexible, the most direct heat diffusion: the cast iron stoves.
